Coach Maddy joined the Challenge U. Softball pitching staff after an exciting softball career starting at Kecoughtan high school in her hometown of Hampton, Virginia and continuing her career at St. John’s University in Queens, New York.
From the age of 12, Coach Maddy has been pitching and working with a variety of different coaches that helped sculpt her into the athlete she is today by fueling her passion for the game through hard work, dedication, success, failure, and pushing her to be her best. Her variety of experiences and passion for the game allows Coach Maddy to train pitchers to highlight their strengths, improve their weaknesses, and develop confidence on and off the field.
In her high school years, Coach collected a few memorable experiences on the field. Coach Maddy was named Virginia Gatorade Player of the Year (2014-15) after going 17-5 with a 1.03 ERA as a senior. She excelled as a two-way player during her senior campaign, posting 270 strikeouts in 149.2 innings and batting .415 with three home runs and 23 RBI. She was named Monitor-Merrimac Conference Player of the Year and First Team All-Conference as a junior and senior, regarded as the Best Softball Player in 2014 by the Virginia Athletic Council, and first team All-State Pitcher in 2014. As an additional highlight, she also registered 24 strikeouts in a single game in 2013, the third most in state-history.
Coach Maddy's collegiate career at St. John’s University began in the fall of 2015 and ended in the spring of 2019. She was a four year starter for the Johnnies and became a force to be reckoned with as she progressed throughout her career. Starting at her freshman season and ending with her senior season, Coach was the recipient of Big East Pitcher of the Week awards on 6 occasions and Big East Honor Roll recognition on 7 occasions.
During her senior season, she stepped up and fronted the load for the Red Storm as the only veteran pitcher on the staff. With the help of her team, she was able to go undefeated in conference by holding opposing teams to a .242 batting average and maintaining a 2.54 ERA. By the end of the season, Coach Maddy was awarded Big East 1st Team Pitcher, All Great Lakes Region third team selection, and most memorable of all, Big East Pitcher of the Year.
After completing her Bachelors in Sociology during her four years at St. John’s, Coach Maddy decided to continue her education by completing her Master’s Degree in Criminology and Justice. During her Masters program, she began her career in pitching instruction where she found excitement and fulfillment in sharing her knowledge with young athletes striving for the same goals that she had growing up. Although her degrees are in criminal justice fields, Coach Maddy's knowledge, passion, and love for softball are her true calling. She strives to better herself everyday on and off the field and loves having the opportunity to help other athletes achieve their goals and reach their full potential.
