COACH CASEY
Certified C.U. Hitting/Defense/Pitching Instructor
Coach Casey Funesti is a passionate softball instructor who brings an accomplished playing background, a strong understanding of the game, and a positive coaching style to Challenge U. Softball®.

A native of Montvale, New Jersey, Casey grew up playing softball and became a four-year varsity starter at Pascack Hills High School, earning All-Conference honors all four years as well as All-Bergen County honors. A versatile infielder, Casey played shortstop, third base, and first base throughout her high school and collegiate careers.

Casey continued her career at Misericordia University, where she was a four-year collegiate player and everyday starter in the infield. She was a member of the 2023 MAC Freedom Championship team, helping the program earn a berth in the NCAA Tournament. Individually, she earned All-MAC Freedom Conference honors three of her four years and Division III Region IV All-Region honors. Over her collegiate career, Casey hit .376 with 129 hits, 97 RBIs, nine home runs, and a .531 slugging percentage.

Casey also served as a Morgan’s Message Ambassador for the Misericordia softball program, an experience that strengthened her appreciation for the mental side of athletics and the importance of confidence, resilience, and supporting athletes beyond their performance on the field.

Coach Casey also specializes in fastpitch pitching instruction and is a Paisley Pitching Affiliate. Through the Paisley Pitching system, she works with pitchers on developing strong mechanics, efficient movement patterns, command, consistency, and confidence in the circle. Her approach focuses on building a strong foundation while helping each pitcher understand her individual movement and continue progressing as she develops.

Her collegiate experience helped shape her coaching philosophy around consistency, preparation, confidence, and attention to detail. Whether working with an athlete at the plate, in the field, or in the circle, Casey emphasizes strong fundamentals, softball IQ, and helping players understand why adjustments work—not simply how to make them.

Coach Casey believes every athlete develops differently and works to help players become confident and comfortable in their abilities. She strives to create a positive, competitive environment where athletes are encouraged to challenge themselves, learn from mistakes, build confidence, and continue developing their love for the game.
