THE 'B' IN C.U.D.I.T. VBS SYSTEM

B- stands for Body Language (presence) within the C.U.D.I.T.® VBS System.  A strong and powerful body language (on and off of the field) has been shown to increase physical performance, mental well being, and a positive attitude within a situation.

The most recent research findings on body language have helped athletes improve their confidence after 120 seconds of focused practice.  These studies are the roots of the VBS System of CUDIT®.

Amy Cuddy, social psychologist at the Harvard Business School, extensively studied body language and the findings have been groundbreaking.  A person's body language can dictate what is happening within the conscience and subconscious.  Cuddy has found that when our overactive minds focus on “what does everyone think of me?” and “what does this mean for my future?”, our bodies show this anxiety by going into a contraction. The body shrinks almost as a fetal position where we feel invisible, protect ourselves. and become submissive.  Cuddy delves into how our bodies betray us in the face of stressful situations.

Presence is about being attuned to and expressing the best part of ourselves: the true selves that we are in our best moments, This is a key attitude to possess for athletes.  Too often athletes and non-athletes forget that their body is speaking for them.  When you enter a room, when you go on an interview, when you step into the batter's box, are all key moments to embrace a power pose before the action plus during the action and let the feel good chemicals flutter through our brain!

Cuddy studied nonverbal expressions of power and dominance and found that high-power posers experienced elevations in testosterone, decreases in cortisol, and increased feelings of power and tolerance for risk; low-power posers exhibited the opposite pattern.

In contrast, when we use low power poses (folding into ourselves, making ourselves small) testosterone decreases and cortisol (the stress hormone) increases.  The chemical reaction within the brain has been groundbreaking in the science world, everyday world, and now the sports world.

According to Cuddy, our bodies change our minds, our minds, change our behaviors, and our behaviors change our outcomes. She has found that presence correlates to passion which is why all CUDIT® Coaches are thoroughly screened for PASSION vs. PAST EXPERIENCE.  enthusiasm in the hiring phase.  This is followed by confidence, authenticity, being comfortable and captivating.

Passion is a must have in all Licensed CUDIT® Concentric Coaches.  This is obvious in their body language, tone, and energy.  Athletes can embrace their passion for the game when they learn how to be powerfully present in the moment. Don't forget, it only takes 120 seconds to make an impact!
